the internet have been resolved, we have decided we shall not be
branching into internet banking."
It was obviously not existing online banks such as the Co-op's
Smile and the Prudential's soon to be floated Egg. Nor is it likely
to be any of the banks that have just announced net ventures. These
include Edinburgh-based Intelligent Finance from the Halifax, Abbey
National's E-banking and the still largely under wraps Evolve from
LloydsTSB, which will also be run from Scotland but initially, it
seems, staffed by Catalan and Spanish speakers.
