Article: U-turn on sports council grants to gun clubs

THE Scottish Sports Council is to make a U-turn on its decision to award lottery grants for two gun clubs, after Sam Galbraith, the sports minister, expressed anger at its controversial plans.

The sports council approved the cash grants last Wednesday, less than a day after the shootings of four girls and their teacher by two boys in Arkansas.

Last night, the sports council appeared to have crumbled in the face of Government pressure, after it emerged that the Scottish Office was unhappy with the decision.
