THE discovery of the first of a range of new planets in the
coming
year is predicted by leading astronomers at a convention in St
Andrews today.
The announcement is just one of a number of revelations expected
at the four-day National Astronomy Meeting at the University of St
Andrews, as gather from around the world.
Among other phenomena being expounded today were the discoveries
that the Sun ejects huge clouds of hot gas in the manner of a human
"cough" and heats its outer layers partly through magnetism.
The Milky Way has meanwhile been discovered to be smaller than
previously thought, and spinning more slowly, according to another
discovery.
