MOIR LOCKHEAD is seated at his desk, beneath a giant oil painting
of a Highland cow. "That's Lilly Ann," says the big,
broad-shouldered boss of Aberdeen-based transport company
FirstGroup,
which has hit the headlines with its Great Western rail deal. "She
was my first cow," he adds proudly.
Lockhead has been breeding Highland cattle for five years - a
painting of his prize bull, Ferrari the First from Fyvie, hangs in
his London office, where FirstGroup has its corporate headquarters.
Isn't it rather an odd choice of hobby for a busy chief
executive?
"Not at all. I wanted something that didn't take up a lot of time
and Highland cattle are very low maintenance. You just put the bull
