A RARE honey buzzard which lost its way in storms while migrating
from Norway to north Africa was last night nearing the end of an
unusual rescue operation.
The female buzzard, believed to be from Norwegian forests, landed
in an exhausted and wretched condition on the pipe-laying vessel
Norlist in the North Sea nearly two weeks ago.
"The ship was midway between Shetland and Norway," said a
spokesman for the vessel's owner, Deep Sea of Aberdeen.
"It was absolutely bushed and it looked as if it had gone through
a washing machine.
"A crew member took the bird into his care and after several days
of feeding it on strips of fillet steak it recovered. Then we had
another problem - it refused to ...
