Article: Strategy-speak over BBC news leaves top presenters in limbo

AFTER 18 months consulting focus groups and analysing expensive market research data, the BBC yesterday came up with a statement of the blindlingly obvious: viewers expect the corporation to provide intelligent news coverage over a range of stories.

The "programme strategy review" was launched by Sir John Birt, the director-general, and the resulting hefty tome is full of Birt- esque mission statements and strategy-speak.
