A FEMALE criminal with a grudge against two detectives has triggered a major investigation into alleged corruption in Strathclyde Police.

Last night, the force confirmed that an investigation, led by a senior detective, was under way after the woman's allegations that officers passed on information to crooks.

Some tape recordings are apparently available. The woman, who is well known to detectives, is understood to be on "friendly" terms with both criminals and police officers. Her activities on the fringes of both criminal and police operations, where information changes hands at a price, is thought to have triggered the woman's grudge.
