TRINITY, the regional newspaper company, is considering
submitting
its GBP 969 million offer for Mirror Group to the Monopolies and
Mergers Commission after the publisher of the Mirror and Daily
Record
rejected the approach.
Any bid for Mirror Group faces an MMC inquiry likely to last
several months and Philip Graf, Trinity's chief executive, said the
group would decide in the next few days whether it was in its best
interests to go to the MMC.
Trinity's action will partly depend on the next move by Regional
Independent Media, the private group which is talking to Mirror
about
increasing its indicative 200p a share offer.
