THEY may still have been chocolatey enough to turn the milk brown, but when the cereal company Kellogg's decided to rename Coco Pops a nation of junior consumers launched an angry protest.

Kellogg's was deluged with letters and telephone calls when the breakfast cereal became Choco Krispies last year.

The correspondence was so heartfelt that the company decided to allow the public to choose the name of the product and set up a telephone line and internet site to register the vote.
