If you're gonna fake it, fake it good. The Hives' devotion to
acknowledging artifice is such that they even pretend to be
manufactured (crediting all their songs to the mythical svengali
"Randy Fitzsimmons"), and their new album is a hugely entertaining
confection made from classic moments in rock'n'roll. Even its
clunkily amusing title is a nod to their indebtedness. The Hives'
genius is in pinpointing every exciting bit from the great rock tunes
- every trick that works - and gleefully running several of them
together into one tune. The exhilarating, shuddering "Two Timing
Touch and Broken Bones" sounds like The Stooges covering ...
