A SENIOR executive who was ordered to repay thousands of pounds of
NHS money following an investigation into overpayment told an
employment tribunal yesterday that he had saved Tayside Health Board
GBP 85,000 a year.
Nigel Young, the former director of commissioning and strategic
management at Tayside Health Board, received overpayments amounting
to more than GBP 10,000.
Last year, external auditors brought to light financial
irregularities by senior figures at Tayside Health Board.
Details of unlawful expenditure became public in a report by Sir
John Bourn, head of the National Audit Office, and an inquiry was
launched.
