Article: Flights secured as Stornoway airport sold for 1 million pounds

THE Ministry of Defence has sold Stornoway airport to the state-
owned Highlands and Islands Airports (HIAL) for GBP 1 million, it
was confirmed last night.
HIAL has acquired 550 acres of land around the airport, while 120
acres of crofting and agricultural land have been sold separately to
the Stornoway Trust.
The deal was welcomed by Alasdair Morrison, deputy minister for
the Highlands and Islands and the Western Isles MSP, who said it
would safeguard air services to and from Stornoway.

question of a public bidding, where the highest bidder could come in
