GREECE has always seemed a little crazy, not to mention
completely unreliable. Remember a few years back the enormous
protests that greeted the creation of Macedonia? The niggling Greek
insistence that that weak and divided country -almost stillborn -
could only be referred to as FYROM?
Remember how the Greeks bungled their bid to join the Euro
currency zone, and fumbled just about every chance of peace and
reconciliation with Turkey? Remember the Kosovo bombing campaign
last spring when fully 96 per cent of Greeks came out against the
NATO bombing that their government - itself a NATO member - had
sanctioned? Remember the frosty reception Bill Clinton got the other
