Article: Health board chief criticised for being director of 14 firms

THE chairman of Lanarkshire Health Board rejected criticism yesterday after it emerged that he is on the board of 14 private companies.

The professional interests of Ian Livingstone, who also chairs the Lanarkshire Development Agency, are listed in the health board's annual report which discloses that he earned GBP 18,700 for his part- time role in 1998-99.

However, Mr Livingstone, who was previously on the board of Motherwell FC, denied his other posts interfered with his health board work or could carry a potential conflict of interest.
