Article: Spielberg pulls out of Harry Potter project

THE WORLD'S most successful film director has passed up the chance to direct the film version of one of JK Rowling's phenomenally successful Harry Potter novels.

Steven Spielberg has decided to withdraw his interest in the Warner Bros film, which is set to become one of the most eagerly anticipated movies of recent times.

Spielberg, the director of ET, Jurassic Park and Schindler's List, has for months been connected to the project based around the books he has described as "genius".

However, yesterday the director dissociated himself from the film, which has the working title Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. In the UK, the books is titled Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone.
