Bus driver who blamed indecency on crash trauma to get 100,000 pounds

A FORMER bus driver who claimed the mental trauma of being involved in a fatal accident led to his sexually assaulting a teenage boy won compensation of GBP 100,000 yesterday.

Richard Dixon, 47, suffered a personality change after his bus was struck by a car and shunted into the path of another vehicle, killing three people, the Court of Session heard.

As a result, he committed an offence of indecency against a boy of 14 and was jailed for two years.

Mr Dixon, of Ballymena, Co Antrim, Northern Ireland, sued the driver of the car that hit his bus, Adrianus van der Wetering, 53, of Sint Michielgestel in the Netherlands, for GBP 150,000, after the accident on the A77 near Stranraer on 17 July, ...
