DIAGEO, the international food and drinks group, insisted
yesterday that its Burger King fast-food division was not for sale,
as disenchanted US-based franchisees vented their fury on the parent
company.
The London-based drinks-to-food group was reacting to reports
that franchisees in the US were looking to buy the chain from
Diageo.
The restaurant owners, through their National Franchisee
Association which is meeting in Florida this week, have hired
lawyers and consultants to see how the restaurants could separate
out of Diageo.
The specialist team included the Wall Street lawyer Weil Gotshal
and Manges, the public relations firm, Hill and Knowlton, and Arthur
