FINGERPRINT evidence submitted by the Scottish Criminal Records
Office (SCRO) is to be checked externally, it was confirmed
yesterday.
The arrangement is to be introduced in the wake of revelations
about the service during the trial of a detective whose thumb print
was allegedly found on a crime scene she insisted she had never
entered.
Chief Constable William Rae, chairman of the Association of Chief
Police Officers Review Group, said that "interim arrangements" had
been made to comply with the Lord Advocate's announcement to provide
independent analyses of all SCRO fingerprint work.
