Article: Deacon on defensive as waiting lists rise again

Hospital waiting lists in Scotland have risen sharply for the fifth consecutive quarter,according to figures published yesterday by the executive. The latest statistics make dismal reading for Labour,with a total of 86,549 people waiting for hospital treatmentin June this year,an increase of more than 4,200 on the last quarter. Susan Deacon,the executive's health minister said yesterday she was "disappointed".The figures are especially disappointing for Scottish ministers as waiting lists south of the Border are falling.
