Article: Dementia sufferers' taste for pop music revealed

PEOPLE diagnosed with dementia may suddenly develop a liking for pop music which they have previously considered "noise", according to research published yesterday.

Previous lovers of only classical music, or even those who did not like any music at all have begun to share the musical tastes of their pre-teen grandchildren, the study suggests.

The phenomenon could be due to the growing influence of the part of the brain which enjoys novelty, according to the paper in the American scientific journal Neurology.
