At 3 p.m. Wednesday, April 1, U.S. Rep. Dick Armey (R-Texas),
ranking member of the Joint Economic Committee, Rep. Tom Delay
(R-Texas) and Rep. Vin Weber (R-Minn.) will hold a press conference
in Room H-227 of the Capitol to release a new report by the Institute
for Policy Innovation.
The report, written by Gary and Aldona Robbins, formerly of the
Treasury Department, shows that the government's tax and regulatory
policies since the late 1980s are the reasons for the recession, and
the recession can be ended by changing those policies.
The study, "Promoting Growth Through Tax Policy," demonstrates the
effects of the 1990-91 recession:
