A NEW title sponsor has been lined up for this summer at Loch
Lomond, which will enrol the event in the magnificent seven - an
elite group of tournaments on the European Tour which offer prize
money of GBP 2million or more.
Success in the search to find a replacement for Standard Life,
the Edinburgh-based financial company which decided not to renew
backing last summer, will be a huge boost for Scottish golf. There
was no chance of Loch Lomond holding on to the most prestigious week
of the year - before the Open championship in July - if the prize
fund had remained stagnant at around GBP 1million.
