LSE exchanges the old for the new with move across the city

GOD and Mammon have edged a little closer. The London Stock Exchange yesterday announced it was moving house - to premises on Paternoster Square, in the shadow of St Paul's Cathedral.

The LSE will move to its new site, an eight-storey, self- contained building at King Edward's Court on the new square, in 2004.

There had been talk it might move eastwards out of the City, London's financial heartland, into the burgeoning docklands district, striking fear into the hearts of City traders.

However, any rumours of such a move have been dispelled with yesterday's announcement.
