TONY Blair, the Prime Minister, interrupted his holiday in Mexico
to send a personal message of hope to the parents of an eight-year-
old girl suffering from a life-threatening bone marrow disease.
Dean Maddocks said he and his wife Carol received a three-page
fax from Mr Blair on Wednesday.
Mr Blair's message, sent via Downing Street from the Mexican
holiday resort of Cancun, told them about a new rule which allows
first-time blood donors to join the British Bone Marrow Registry, Mr
Maddocks added.
The Prime Minister, who met with the couple in Downing Street two
weeks ago, also confirmed that he had asked the Department of Health
to report to him within a month on the best way to ...
