Article: Blair takes up bone marrow case

TONY Blair, the Prime Minister, interrupted his holiday in Mexico to send a personal message of hope to the parents of an eight-year- old girl suffering from a life-threatening bone marrow disease.

Dean Maddocks said he and his wife Carol received a three-page fax from Mr Blair on Wednesday.

Mr Blair's message, sent via Downing Street from the Mexican holiday resort of Cancun, told them about a new rule which allows first-time blood donors to join the British Bone Marrow Registry, Mr Maddocks added.
