LOS ANGELES, May 10 /U.S. Newswire/ -- In 1995, federal, state and
local government officials of both major political parties continued
to rely on privatization as a tool to cut costs and improve
government services, according to "Privatization 1996", the Reason
Foundation's 10th annual report on government privatization trends.
According to William D. Eggers, privatization center director at
the Reason Foundation, "The challenge for public officials today is
to provide essential services in a cost effective manner.
Privatization is a tool that can help public managers do just that.
Privatization increases competition, and competition increases
