SEATTLE, Nov. 6 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Animal advocates scored
victories in five of seven states in initiative battles over hunting
and trapping issues. The number of hunting initiatives was exceeded
in number only by initiatives addressing term limits and taxes.
Voters in Alaska, Colorado, Massachusetts and Washington approved
measures to restrict hunting and trapping practices. Oregon voters
overwhelmingly rejected a measure to overturn the 1994 law they
previously approved that barred hounding and baiting. Voters in
Idaho and Michigan rejected measures to restrict bear hunting.
