WASHINGTON, Jan. 4 /U.S. Newswire/ -- The departments of
Defense (DOD), Veterans Affairs (VA) and Health and Human Services
(HHS), which together comprise the Persian Gulf Veterans Coordinating
Board, are taking steps to improve research productivity, as
recommended in an interim report by the Institute of Medicine (IOM).
VA and DOD contracted with IOM to review their ongoing research
efforts and make recommendations to improve data collection and
research studies.
Coordination
The IOM committee recommended that the Persian Gulf Veterans
Coordinating Board more actively coordinate all studies that receive
federal funding, prevent unnecessary duplication and assure that
high-priority studies ...
