Article: Veterans Affairs to Build National Cemetery in Seattle Area

WASHINGTON, Sept. 29 /U.S. Newswire/ -- The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) has awarded a $7.9 million contract to Aldrich & Associates Inc. of Bothell, Wash., to construct a new national cemetery near the town of Maple Valley, some 25 miles south of downtown Seattle.

The first phase of the project calls for the preparation of 6,553 sites for casketed burials, 2,981 lawn crypts, 1,620 garden niches and 2,400 columbarium niches for cremated remains. The plan also includes construction of roadways, administrative and maintenance facilities, an assembly area and an entrance gate.
