Article: Elwha River Restoration Report is Transmitted to Congress

WASHINGTON, May 26 /U.S. Newswire/ -- The Interior Department submitted a report to Congress today saying it is possible to fully restore the Elwha River ecosystem while retaining jobs and stimulating the economy in the Port Angeles region.

The report, which was mandated by Congress under the Elwha River Ecosystem and Fisheries Restoration Act of 1992, says the removal of the Elwha and Glines Canyon dams is feasible and is the only alternative that would achieve full restoration of the ecosystem and fisheries.
