PEORIA, Ill., May 26 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Following is a statement
by Caterpillar:
Caterpillar is pleased with the Clinton Administration's
decision to extend China's most-favored-nation status for another
year. That decision will allow for continued trade arrangements
between China and U.S. companies like Caterpillar. In the final
analysis, it can be argued that free and open trade between
the two countries is the most effective way of promoting the
cause of human rights in China.
Today's decision is a positive step that will enable us to
continue growing our presence in China. Caterpillar has established
two joint ventures and a dozen licensing/technology transfer
