ARIZONA -- CONSERVATIONISTS WIN MOUNT GRAHAM LAWSUIT
Today, the U.S. District Court for the District of Arizona
ruled in favor of Defenders of Wildlife, the Mount Graham Coalition,
and others that Congress did not intend to exempt the new location
of a controversial telescope project from provisions of the U.S.
Endangered Species Act and National Environmental Policy Act.
Several dozen environmental and animal welfare groups filed
the suit to preserve Mount Graham, a "sky-island" home to 18
unique species and subspecies found nowhere else on earth.
