Article: Light Rail in Denver to Open October 7

DENVER, Sept. 26 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Facing massive growth, crippling federal clean air mandates and motorists that drive more than 40 million miles on a daily basis, citizens of the Mile High City are eagerly awaiting the opening of Denver's first 5.3 mile light rail system.

The Denver metro area's transit agency, the Regional Transportation District (RTD), will dedicate the new light rail line with a festive grand opening celebration in downtown Denver on the afternoon of Friday, Oct. 7, 1994. The $116.5 million project is on time and on budget.
