Article: VA Proposes Rule for Compensating Persian Gulf Veterans

WASHINGTON, Dec. 5 /U.S. Newswire/ -- The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) today announced that sick veterans are one step closer to receiving additional assistance from VA for undiagnosed illnesses that may be the result of their service in the Persian Gulf War.

VA is publishing in the Federal Register a proposed rule on compensation payments to chronically disabled Persian Gulf veterans with undiagnosed illnesses. VA began developing the rule last month after President Clinton signed the Veterans' Benefits Act of 1994, which authorized the compensation.
