WASHINGTON, Feb. 23 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Earlier today at the White
House, HHS Secretary Donna E. Shalala joined President Clinton,
First
Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton, and the National Governors' Association
(NGA), to launch a nationwide campaign to promote the new toll-free
hotline, Insure Kids Now, to get eligible children enrolled in free
or low-cost health insurance. The toll-free number is
1-877-KIDS-NOW.
The State Children's Health Insurance Program (SCHIP) -- the
historic bipartisan legislation signed into law in 1997 by President
Clinton -- allocates $24 billion over five years to help states
expand health insurance to children whose families earn too much for
traditional Medicaid, yet ...
