Clinton Nominates Loy as Coast Guard Commandant

WASHINGTON, Feb. 3 /U.S. Newswire/ -- President Clinton announced his intention today to nominate Vice Admiral James M. Loy, USCG, to be the twenty-first Commandant of the United States Coast Guard, succeeding Admiral Bob Kramek.

Admiral Loy has served his country for 34 years, distinguishing himself in a number of challenging assignments and consistently demonstrating strong leadership. A native of Altoona, Pennsylvania, Admiral Loy joined the Armed Forces as a cadet at the Coast Guard Academy in 1960. Most recently, he has served as the Coast Guard's Chief of Staff.
