WASHINGTON, March 9 /U.S. Newswire/ -- The following was released today by the White House: Eighty-three outstanding men and women have advanced to the second round of competition for a White House Fellowship, America's most prestigious fellowship program for leadership development and public service. Only one in five applicants were selected as Regional Finalists for the 1998-1999 Class of White House Fellows.

White House Fellows spend a year serving the President as full-time paid special assistants to members of the Cabinet and senior White House staff. The nearly 500 alumni of the program have gone on to become leaders in all fields of endeavor, fulfilling the fellowship's mission to ...
