Article: RNC's Nicholson Calls on Clinton to Cancel COSCO's Lease on Long Beach

WASHINGTON, June 4 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Republican National Chairman (RNC) Jim Nicholson today called on President Clinton to refuse to allow Chinese government-run China Ocean Shipping Company (COSCO) a lease on Long Beach Naval Station (Long Beach, CA) because of COSCO's long record of trafficking nuclear weapons materials and other artillery.

President Clinton signed Public Law 105-85 in 1997 to prohibit transfer of Long Beach property to COSCO or any of its subsidiaries without a presidential waiver.
