FRESNO, Calif., Sept. 14 /U.S. Newswire/ -- "Asset forfeiture
laws are a disgrace," said Gubernatorial candidate Steve Kubby.
Speaking at California State University at Fresno today, Kubby
told students that victims are often targetted for their property
instead of a crime, "Dan Lungren, the Godfather of asset forfeiture
while a member of Congress, says these laws are used against
drug kingpins. Folks, that just isn't the truth. These laws
are almost always used to seize the assets of completely innocent
people who haven't done enough wrong to even be arrested."
"In more than 80 percent of cases involving asset forfeiture,
the victim of the raid is never even charged with a crime,"
