Who: David Holtz, Center for Marine Conservation, Florida Keys
Program and an observer team
What: The observer team will focus on the impact of Hurricane
George at Western Sambos Ecological Reserve and other shallow reef
tops off Key West where winds of 115 mph and a 4-6 foot storm surge
battered the fragile island. The team will conduct an initial
post-hurricane assessment of coral reef conditions in the Florida
Keys National Marine Sanctuary.
When: Thursday, Oct. 1, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
