WASHINGTON, April 25 /U.S. Newswire/ -- The Maryland Federation of Nurses and Health Professionals (MFNHP) today said it won 65 percent of the vote for union representation of the state's nurses and healthcare workers over the Maryland Classified Employees Association, receiving 409 votes to the Association's 171 votes. Forty-five health professionals voted against any union representation. "This is a tremendous victory for health professionals," said MFNHP campaign coordinator Juanita Dunlap Smith. "It means that for the first time, health professionals will have the right to have a strong voice in efforts to improve their jobs and to improve health care in our state.
