WASHINGTON, May 30 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Hundreds of thousands of
people across America will unite this weekend in a massive local,
national, and "virtual" Stand for Healthy Children.
"These 550 Stand For Children events in all 50 states demonstrate
the vibrant and growing grassroots movement for children in this
country," said Stand For Children Day founder and Children's Defense
Fund President Marian Wright Edelman. "Our united mission is to
give every child a healthy start -- with the health care they need,
and healthy communities that allow children to breathe clean air,
walk safely to school, and learn unimpaired by violence or untreated
