WASHINGTON, May 1 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Following is a statement
from
the FDR In A Wheelchair Campaign of the National Organization on
Disability, in celebration of the opening of the FDR Memorial and
commending President Clinton and the Congress for their pledge to
include a statue of President Roosevelt in a wheelchair:
The National Organization on Disability (NOD) commends President
William Clinton for his leadership, and Sen. Daniel Inouye and the
U.S. Senate for its unanimous consent of Senate Joint Resolution 29
which calls for an addition to the memorial of a statue that depicts
FDR in a wheelchair. We also commend Congressman Maurice Hinchey for
introducing legislation in the U.S. ...
