MACHIPONGO, Va., May 6 /U.S. Newswire/ -- The following was
released by United Poultry Concerns:
When WOIO-TV, Channel 19 in Cleveland, Ohio, announced on April
28 that West Side Poultry was being shut down for putrid filth and
other health code violations, United Poultry Concerns asked the City
of Cleveland to allow them to place the remaining birds in permanent
sanctuaries and homes. Today that goal was reached when the last 141
chickens were removed from their squalid cages by loving hands at 9
a.m. and taken away. On May 3, United Poultry Concerns
representative Mary-Kate Grover of Burke, Va., was joined by a
