Article: Gore Proposes New Reforms to Modernize Social Security, Strengthen it For Future

NASHVILLE, Tenn., April 4 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Today, Al Gore is outlining his proposal to strengthen Social Security until at least 2050 through a fiscally-disciplined, common-sense plan that assures that all of the Social Security surpluses go to debt reduction and Social Security. Gore also is unveiling a new proposal to modernize Social Security and make it fairer for women by eliminating the motherhood penalty and increasing the benefit for women. This effects less than 5 percent of the Social Security surpluses over the next 10 years. Gore believes these plans are a major step toward truly saving Social Security.
