SYRACUSE, N.Y., May 4 /U.S. Newswire/ -- A study published in the
May 2000 edition of "Nutrition: The International Journal of Applied
and Basic Nutritional Science," shows that rural Wisconsin residents
achieved successful weight loss and maintenance for five years.
The study, entitled "Five-Year Self-Management of Weight Using
Meal Replacements: Comparison with Matched Controls in Rural
Wisconsin" tracked the weights of 523 overweight or obese adults
between 1992 and 1997. The treatment group consisted of 134 subjects
who followed a nationally recognized weight loss and maintenance
