WASHINGTON, Sept. 19 /U.S. Newswire/ The following was released
today by the American Nurses Association (ANA):
The American Nurses Association (ANA) applauds the 1,500 staff
nurses at Washington Hospital Center, represented by the District of
Columbia Nurses association, who are set to walk the picket line at
5:30 a.m. Wednesday in protest of hostile working conditions that
are seriously eroding patient care at the hospital. The nurses*
contract expired Sept. 10 and they were in federal mediation with
the hospital for several days last week over contractual issues that
included working conditions.
Understaffing at the facility has resulted in nurses being
