REPUBLICAN Kent Hall is making another run for mayor of
Charleston
and despite a primary election four days away, he has good reason to
be smiling.
This time, he has no opposition until the general election.
That's a long haul from 1991 when he was the challenger to then-
Mayor Chuck Gardner for the Republican nomination. Hall won that
battle and went on to win in the general election.
And the enviable position Hall now finds himself in is even
further removed from his experience in 1995, when he lost in the
Republican primary to Ted Armbrecht - a truly devastating defeat for
any incumbent.
But at the age of 70, Hall is back - a sentiment featured in the
