Article: Keep the Municipal Auditorium: After 60 years, Charleston residents

ABOUT a month ago, when the Charleston primary election was approaching, much of the candidates' discussion dealt with the fate of the city's Municipal Auditorium.

The idea was that Charleston could either sell the building or tear it down and then sell the land.

Either way, the money earned from the sale would be used to help pay for construction of the city's new arts center. The idea was that many of the shows now playing at the Municipal Auditorium would be transferred to the arts center.
