Sure, bubonic plague, malaria and yellow fever don't exactly
worry
West Virginians these days.
Thanks to ever-ready public health defenders, we've largely moved
on from the death threats posed by unknown or misunderstood insects,
sewage in the streets and water consumed without regard to toxic
bacteria.
But the little, and sometimes not so little, pesky critters that
dive bomb, bite and sting still can cause us fits and, occasionally,
serious disease.
So gird up. Get out the pyrethrum coils, DEET and Skin-So-Soft.
Bug season is upon us.
