NASHVILLE - Shoney's Inc. plans to use some of the money it saves
by closing 72 struggling Shoney's restaurants to expand its Captain
D's brand.
"Since the name of the company is Shoney's, sometimes people
forget we also have Captain D's, which is doing extremely well,"
Raymond D. Schoenbaum, chairman of the board of the Nashville-based
Shoney's, said Monday.
"We decided we're not going to shore up (Shoney's) stores that
are losing money. We'll take some of that money and reallocate it to
grow Captain D's."
No stores in West Virginia will be closed.
Shoney's owns 665 Captain D's restaurants, and 365 Shoney's, as
well as several Pargo's and Fifth Quarter restaurants. In ...
